Robotics is the branch of automation that performs a task through robots (anthropomorphic, scara, delta, mobile). The applications we operate on range from end-of-line palletisation of products or boxes, to object manipulation, to pick-&-place of products through vision up to the integration of collaborative robotics in lines or machines.

The packaging sector deals with the packaging of the product arriving from production.

It is divided into three types of packaging:

  • Primary: the product is closed in the package, which varies depending on its format.
  • Secondary: the packaged product is placed in a box.
  • Tertiary: the boxes are manipulated to form a pallet or to fill large containers.

Generally they are complex machines with a strong motion control component for the interpolation of the axes that govern the electric actuators.

Automatic warehouses handle the packages storage by managing their movement from the point of receipt from production to the final location, to then be brought back to the unloading path once recalled by the management system for unloading or subsequent processing.

Automation is also closely connected to the software that governs the entire warehouse database and the interface with the factory management system for receiving and sending production lists to be managed (WMS). This type of automation involves the use of a complex network infrastructure for communication with the mover and data collection from incoming packages, in order to guarantee the WMS real-time management of warehouse movements.

  • Automation software for the management of the automatic warehouse, i.e. of moving, shuttles, and transports.
  • WMS software for the management of the warehouse database and the interfacing with the production management system.

They include all custom-made machines created to perform a customer function or operation. This type of application requires a transversal competence to address the issues that emerge in the machine setup. In addition to providing the software and hardware solution, we can offer a consultancy service during the design phase or in the technical choices.

Revamping or Retrofitting of systems or machines is undertaken when our client intends to maintain a still “robust” hydraulic or mechanical system. However, over the years, the electromechanical/instrumental or electronic component (sometimes absent) has reached or exceeded the PL (Performance Level) or the electronics is no longer supported in terms of spare parts or, as often happens, the know-how of the design and development environment has retired along with the technicians who held the Know-how. In these cases of system rejuvenation, high technical skills are required to analyse the documentation that is sometimes absent, therefore it will be necessary to proceed with surveys and analysis with interviews with operators and maintenance personnel to reconstruct the operating specification, analysing all the components involved and the characteristics of those that can be recovered, or proposing any replacements or improvements.

An important activity is the evaluation of the machine and operator safety aspects with a specific “Risk Analysis”, which is the document that will allow the subsequent electrical redesign.

Our strong point in retrofits is knowing how to plan all the necessary interventions in order to minimize plant downtime and testing.
